GERALDINE LEE

What do you work as?
I’m an orthodontist with my own private practice (The Orthodontic Clinic), a part time tutor to the postgraduate orthodontic residency programme at NUS and a visiting consultant to the National Dental Centre, Toofdoctor Dental Surgeons and GPA Dental. I’m also the Vice President of the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore).

What are some of the best parts of your work that you look forward to?
Helping my patients achieve that beautiful smile they’ve always wanted. As braces treatments usually take 1-3 years to complete, I get the chance to really get to know my patients. It’s amazing to watch them grow up, especially if they started seeing me at a younger age.

What are some interests you have outside of work?
I attend regular Pilates classes. Most of my free time is definitely spent with my family, spending quality time with my son whenever I can, and catching up with good friends.

What makes you excited about these interests?
Pilates is great for strengthening your core and back, which is so important for us dentists. Personally, it’s very important that all mothers, not just working mothers, set aside time for themselves. Be it having tea with girlfriends, or getting your hair done at PREP, taking care of yourself restores the energy needed to cope with demands that parenting or work places on you.
